Select a picture to follow a
pathway for learning
Each theme or learning pathway indicates a direction that
can be taken to make connections in learning and develop a
mixed media response to the place and the people from the
past to the present.

One or more
learning pathways may be used by the teacher
to generate language, thinking and learning. The emphasis
may be changed according to the needs of the children and
the curriculum focus, but this provides a way to plan for
the development of understanding across a range of
learning objectives and makes clear links between areas of
learning.

Visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning can take place, as
well as independent and shared reflection and responses to
an experience. Reading, writing, speaking and listening form
a significant part of the learning and creative activities
are developed to enhance the children's understanding. ICT
is integrated into the activities and should be used
alongside other ways of presenting and representing ideas
or other outcomes. Using a
learning pathway enables
children to exercise their imagination which is a
fundamental stepping stone to progress.
