During key stage 2 pupils should learn about significant
people, events and places
from both the recent and more
distant past. They should learn about
change and
continuity in their own area
, in Britain and in other
parts of the world. They need to look at history in a
variety of ways. They should use
different sources of
information
to help them investigate the past, using
dates and historical vocabulary to describe events,
people and developments.

They should also learn that the past can be represented
and interpreted in different ways.

Shadows of the Past
Learning Pathway
In the Hall and grounds are many 'shadows of the past', leaving a faint footprint in time. People
have lived and worked there since the 12th century and domestic, local, national and international
changes have taken place. The evidence for some survives today. Portraits, furnishings, stairs,
walls and windows tell a story of the passing of time.
