A new KS2 unit of work based on Burton Agnes Hall past and present is presented and explored. This links the Art and Design QCA Unit 4b, "Take a Seat" and the History QCA Unit 18, "What was it like to live here in the past?" and focuses on putting planning into practice in both lower and upper KS2. Creative 'Learning Pathways' are developed to allow children to to explore the past. The training day at Burton Agnes Hall is practical, focusing on artistic responses to the people and places in Burton Agnes Hall. Speaking, listening, reading and writing in context are explored within the unit. "Who's Been Sitting In My Chair?" utilises a real context for creatively exploring the lives of the people who lived there in the past and provides resources for planning future class visits to Burton Agnes Hall. |
